Mission Statements

The Faraway Cherokee Association Mission Statement

The Faraway Cherokee Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the education and preservation of Native American culture. It is the oldest Native American Association in the state of Tennessee.

Our mission is to promote the general welfare of those persons of Native American heritage through charitable programs and referral systems, and to promote mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation between Native Americans and non-Indians through educational culture awareness. Our goal is to provide information to any person having Indian heritage or interested in Native American genealogy programs, we are able to establish a new understanding of our people.

The Cross and feather Mission Statement

Our mission is to actively promote the Cherokee culture through education and that, specifically, by the direct study of the Cherokee syllabary. Our goal is to develop and maintain ties to our heritage using the language and culture of our people, to continue a community of Christian fellowship by using hymns as a bridge to the language and culture of our people and not to exclude other nations, who wish to participate in our fellowship.
